Toronto: One hundred photographers started off today (Sat Apr 8) on the 3rd Toronto Photography Marathon, the best showing yet.
The starting point: Christie Pits at Christie and Bloor. Each registrant received a 12-exposure roll of film and a card with 12 themes. The objective: they have 24 hours to capture each theme in a photograph - and they only have one exposure for each theme - with 24 hours to get them all. The results can be amazing, as a trip through the photo gallery on the website will reveal. All the photographers will be returning to the pavillion at Christie Pits on Sunday April 9 at 12 noon, to hand in their exposed film. All the films will be developed by the Marathon organizers and displayed at the Exhibit Party on Saturday April 22, to be held at the Gladstone Hotel. People then have an opportunity to vote on which photgraphs best reflects each theme.
The next Marathon is planned for January 2007, as they are scheduled to occur once every 3 seasons. So if you have a chance, get over to the Gladstone on April 22nd to see what these intrepid photogs have done. |
